With the launch of the Xpander, Mitsubishi has officially entered the MPV arena and the result is a versatile, elegant seven-seater best suited for family outings and road trips. The Pajero Sport-influenced interior is designed with simple and modern fittings and fabric seats that offer great support and wide range adjustability and hosts a 1.5-liter 1500cc engine. For the outlook, the Mitsubishi Xpander is designed with the Dynamic Shield front fascia. Dynamic Shield Design is the new Mitsubishi Design language. This is not just a design to make the car look good but also helps in reducing the damage to both car and pedestrian in the case of an impact.
The most appealing feature of this car, however, is the space. Even in the third row, there is ample space to sit comfortably. There is a folding, full-size armrest for the middle row, simulating captain seats for added comfort. Each row is fitted with power outlets, as well as ceiling mounted dual air-conditioning units so even the passenger in the last row will not feel like they are getting the raw end of the deal. Another key space aspect of this car is the ease with which the two back rows fold down flat, creating unhindered load space for 1.75 meters. The Mitsubishi Xpander also has passage under seat storage, a feature unique in this class of vehicle. Even with full occupancy, it offers enough space for a good few bags at the back, making it a perfect car for long journeys.
The dashboard, with its infotainment system, is placed high at the center for easy use. The seven-inch wide touchscreen offers navigation, Bluetooth, aux inputs, and phone mirroring and can be accessed using voice control. The reverse camera also feeds its video through the infotainment system. Pairing is easy and the sound is played through a six-speaker music system which provides surround sound for a long time listening.
Putting user-friendliness at the center of its design, the Xpander has a push-button ignition and a smart key. The twin dials for RPMs and vehicle speed are clearly indicated on the dashboard, and there’s even a small multi-function display in between that can show things like fuel range, eco-driving indicators, various trip functions, and the usual gear and fuel levels. There is also cruise control and the steering wheel mounted controls for convenience.
As with the quality of the materials used, there is no compromise on safety. All cars are equipped with dual airbags and ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) as standard. The top-of-the-range model possesses electronic stability control, traction control, and hill start assist.
Appealing to the eye in every spectrum, the Xpander is available in six different colors. Mitsubishi really thought this car through.
