Wednesday, May 3rd 2017, Dhaka– Startup Weekend Dhaka will be held at GP House, from 18th-20th May, 2017. The event is hosted in collaboration with Techstars and organized by SD ASIA. White-board is the Innovation Enabler of the event. Facebook is the Platinum Sponsor and Magnito Digital, Razor Capital & Tripooly are the Silver Sponsors for the event.

The main objective for Startup Weekend Dhaka is to build the startup ecosystem in Dhaka. This will be an enriching and experiential learning platform for connecting and enhancing the startup culture of Dhaka to the world. SWDhaka 2017 will have around 100 like-minded individuals who are ready to pitch their ideas that they can take forward to Saturday night demos and presentations. These are the aspiring entrepreneurs, developers, designers, dreamers and doers with ideas who will contribute to the future of startup innovation and entrepreneurship in Dhaka.

Techstars is a worldwide network to support entrepreneurs and as a global ecosystem, they empower entrepreneurs to bring new technologies to market wherever they choose to live or build great businesses anywhere in the world through our Startup Programs, Accelerators and Ventures.

Techstars Startup Programs are action-oriented, highly inspirational and experiential programs in the community that power every step of the entrepreneurial journey, that include Startup Weekend, Startup Digest, and Startup Week. Startup Weekend hosts entrepreneurs to build startups in more than 1,000 events per year in 150+ countries.

The event is open for ideas from all sectors. Individuals will pitch their idea on the first day and participants will vote for the top ideas. Teams will form organically around the selected ideas. The event is a perfect place to network among hustlers, designers and developers. As participants form teams themselves with like-minded people who want to work on the same idea- this gives a chance to find their potential co-founders.

On the second day, teams will work on their project. Expert mentors will be present to help them on topics like business development, sales, marketing, strategy, digital marketing, UI/UX, tech, coding, design, etc. Teams are expected to work through the day to build their MVP or prototype and business model.

The final day is about finishing the work and pitching the final project in front judges. Top 3 teams will get prizes from Facebook (FbStart & Adcoupon packages). Every participant will get certificates and an amazing experience from this platform. The event is a wonderful place to meet investors and potential co-founders for startups. Networking among the ecosystem is the ultimate goal of SWDhaka 2017.

Application round is currently open for the event. Interested people can sign up for the event at https://goo.gl/WAUDhd. To know more about the event, visit the site and the facebook page.

SD ASIA always worked for building up the startup ecosystem in Bangladesh. Organizing Startup Weekend Dhaka energies the view that SD ASIA has always shared. Organizers from SD ASIA believe that the startup ecosystem in Bangladesh is growing quite fast. People have amazing and extraordinary ideas which has very high potentials. These ideas can solve so many problems, especially in developing countries like Bangladesh.

Anurag Maloo, who is the Regional Manager for Techstars in South and Central Asia, is quite excited about SWDhaka 2017. He said, “I believe entrepreneurs are the leading drivers of prosperity, jobs, and innovation. Without entrepreneurship, communities would cease to move forward within their local economies and in the world. Bangladesh has shown lots of prospects in the entrepreneurial sectors and I am very excited to see the outcome of SWDhaka 2017.”

To facilitate the event, Nikhil Jain is coming from India. He has been a part of Startup Weekend Community for a long time in India. He is quite thrilled about SWDhaka. He is hoping great ideas and startups will come out from this event.
