RAHIMAFROOZ – Committed to Enriching Lives

Humble Beginnings

In 1954, the late Abdul Rahim established a small trading entity named Rahimafrooz Group. Initially the prime focus of the entity was garment retail. Later, the small company stepped foot in the battery industry and entered a joint venture with British investors. The business growth, the social commitment, and the great diversity in today’s Rahimafrooz are the outcome of the late founder’s lifetime of hard work and compassion. Abdul Rahim’s passion for constantly improving himself and his business, his ethical practices, and his commitment to serve his customers continue to dictate Rahimafrooz’s culture today while shaping the Group’s present and future.

In 1990, Rahimafrooz, which was serving as a battery distributor until then, took over manufacturing and went on to become the leader in the industry and one of Bangladesh’s most prominent business groups.

Rahimafrooz today is among Bangladesh’s leading conglomerates with a diversified business portfolio and local market leadership and a growing presence in global markets. Having transitioned from a typical FB into a corporate business structure in 1998, Rahimafrooz prides itself on its transparency and integrity. In the early 2000s, it introduced Bangladesh to the concept of supermarket, challenging the traditional cultural buying habits of households.

Over the decades, Rahimafrooz has grown in size, scale, and diversity. The Group today has eight operating companies (SBUs), a few other business ventures, and a not for profit social enterprise. As of 2018, the Group currently employs more than three thousand five hundred people directly and a further fifty thousand indirectly as suppliers, contractors, dealers and retailers. Rahimafrooz operates in four broad segments – Storage Power, Automotive & Electronics, Energy and Retail.
