An Enlightened Platform for Students by East West University Business Club

East West University Business Club organized a nationwide business strategy competition named “BriefCase 2019 – Inter-University 360° Business Strategy Competition Powered by Ruchi”. The competition aimed to extend their knowledge about business.

The program was apportioned into four rounds titled as ‘Online Screening,’ ‘Round 1’, ‘Semi-Final: On-spot Case’ and ‘Grand Finale: Case Solving and Case Development.’ The rounds have respectively been held on July 21, 27, 29 and August 4, 2019. The registration started from July 14, 2019, Sunday at East West University campus premises, and the students also had the opportunity to register online. The club communicated with more than 50 universities of the country to inform about the event and also conducted promotional sessions in some reputed universities.

More than two hundred teams registered for the competition from more than twenty-five different universities. The program started with a press release on July 12, 2019. In the press release, one of the club moderators Silvia Akter, Assistant Professor, East-West University had given a press briefing about the competition in front of the media. Two respected guests M.A. Mahmud, Senior Brand Manager, and Murtaza Nasir, Brand Executive from Square Food & Beverage Limited were also present at the press release.

A workshop was held for the first round which was conducted by Amitabh Roy, Deputy General Manager, bKash Limited. The workshop was held on July 23, 2019. One of the honorable moderators of EWUBC, Md. Anamul Haque, Lecturer of East West University, shared a few words with the students. The case of the first round was provided to the 36 teams with a short brief.
EWUBC arranged the ‘Trophy Unveiling Ceremony’ of the competition on July 31, 2019. In the ceremony, the honorable guests were Syed Manzur Elahi, Chairperson, Board of Trustees, East West University as Chief Guest and Professor M.M. Shahidul Hassan, Vice-Chancellor, East West University as Program Chair. The Guest of Honor was Parvez Saiful Islam, COO and the Special Guest was Imtiaz Firoze, Head of Marketing from Square Food and Beverage Limited. On behalf of the moderators, Silvia Akter, Assistant Professor of East West University, shared her feelings about the club’s achievements. The club celebrated its glorious journey of 20 years with a grand concert on the same day. One of the famous bands AVOIDRAFA performed at the grand concert.

The last round of the competition ‘Grand Finale’ and the Grand Gala was held on August 4, 2019, at the campus premises. The Chief Guest for the Grand Gala was Syed Manzur Elahi, Chairperson, Board of Trustees, East West University and Zulfikar Hyder, Chief People Officer, Brac. The Program Chair was Dr. Farhana Ferdousi, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Business Administration, East West University. The Special Guest was A.Z.M Shafiqul Alam, Treasurer, East West University. On behalf of the moderators, Dr. Md. Abdul Momen, Assistant Professor of East West University, shared a few words with the audience.

“Team Surface” from Dhaka University was announced as the champion of the competition.

“Team Impact” from North South University became the 1st runner up and “Team Game Plan” from Bangladesh University of Professionals became the 2nd runner up. The champion team received prize money of BDT 25,000 with a tour from “Tourbuzz.” The 1st runner up and the 2nd runner up received BDT 15,000 and BDT 10,000 respectively. The competition has been concluded with great success. The dream of the club is to plan and execute more events like this in the near future.
