courtesy call on BGMEA President Faruque Hassan
on 29 August 2021. BGMEA Vice President
Shahidullah Azim, Vice President Miran Ali and
during the meeting held at BGMEA PR office in
Gulshan, Dhaka. They had discussions about the
current situation of the readymade garment industry
of Bangladesh, especially how the industry has faced
the challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic
and the way it is turning around. The discussion also
encompassed potential areas of further collaboration
between Bangladesh and Netherlands for the
betterment of the Bangladesh RMG industry.
More than one lakh customers of cable TV operator
‘Bengal Digital’ can now pay their bill through
bKash, announced the MFS service provider on 2
August 2021. Subscribers all over the country can
enjoy the bill payment service through bKash app
without any charge. Bill payment service through
bKash app for Bengal Digital ensures uninterrupted
TV viewing experience and also saves time and cost
for the customers. In addition, it makes the bill
management process smoother for Bengal Digital.
Customers can enjoy this bill payment service
through bKash app. bKash is the first Mobile
Financial Service (MFS) provider to cater bill
payment facilities for Bengal Digital users.
In the presence of speakers from the
government and non-government agencies,
BRAC launched its first Mental Health Strategy
at a virtual event organised on 25 August
2021. The event was chaired by Asif Saleh,
executive director, BRAC, and moderated by
KAM Morshed, senior director, BRAC. Professor
Meerjady Sabrina Flora, additional director
general (planning), Directorate General of
Health Services, attended the programme as
the chief guest. Dr Robed Amin, line director,
Non-Communicable Disease Control (NCDC),
Government of Bangladesh, and Mia Seppo,
UN resident coordinator, Bangladesh, were
present special guests at the event.
A six-bed HDU (High Dependency
Unit) was set up at Chattogram
General Hospital with the
financial assistance of BSRM to
enhance the medical facilities of
critical patients. Deputy Minister
of Education and Chairman of
the Hospital Management
Committee Mohibul Hasan
Chowdhury Nowfel inaugurated
the HDU on 30 August 2021.
