Eastern Bank Limited (EBL) as the first bank in
Bangladesh has signed a ‘Confirming Bank’
agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB)
under their Trade Finance Program.
Can Sutken, Senior Investment Specialist of ADB’s
Private Sector Operations Department and Mehdi
Zaman, Deputy Managing Director and Head of
Treasury, Offshore Banking and Financial Institutions
signed the agreement on behalf of respective
organizations on 17 August 2021. Under the
agreement, ADB will issue guarantees to EBL as a
Confirming Bank to cover all or part of the risks arising
from add confirmation and/or discounting by EBL of
eligible trade finance instruments, issued by selected
banks in ADB’s Developing Member Countries.

Exim Bank has provided 20 high-flow nasal
cannula machines at DNCC Dedicated
COVID-19 Hospital under Dhaka North
City Corporation.The cannula machines
were handed over to Dhaka North City
Corporation Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam at a
function held at Dhaka North City
Corporation office on 18 August 2021.

Hossain along with senior executives of
Dhaka North City Corporation, DNCC
Dedicated Covid-19 Hospital and Exim
Bank were also present on the occasion.

IFIC Bank Limited on 15 August
2021 observed the National
Mourning Day through different
activities marking the 46th
anniversary of the martyrdom of
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman and unto those who were
martyred on 15th August, 1975. A
webinar was held with all employees
of the Bank chaired by MD & CEO of
the bank, Shah A Sarwar. Senior
Management of the bank also
planted trees at IFIC Head Office
premise along with a Branch and an
Uposhakha on the same occasion.

On the occasion of the 46th martyrdom anniversary of the
great architect of independence, Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Jamuna Bank
Limited organized a discussion meeting on his life and work,
doa mahfil, and tree plantation program at Jamuna Bank
Foundation Old Home in Keraniganj, Dhaka on 15 August
2021. Gazi Golam Ashria, Chairman of the Board of
Directors of Jamuna Bank Limited, Al-Haj Nur Mohammed,
Chairman of Jamuna Bank Foundation, Shaheen Mahmud,
Md. Sirajul Islam Varosa, Md. Saidul Islam, Director of the
Bank, Independent Directors Md Abdur Rahman Sarker and
Md.Rafiqul Islam, Managing Director and CEO Mirza Elias
Uddin Ahmed and Deputy Managing Directors of the Bank
were present in the program. Also, senior officials of the
head office and managers of 149 branches of the bank
participated in the program virtually.
