Oppo, a new mobile manufacturer intruded into Bangladeshi mobile market in the wake of present potential present in Bangladesh. We, and a lot of Oppo fans from Bangladesh, anticipated that they would have their own showrooms somewhere in Dhaka. Instead, the company has chosen to launch a few handsets through authorized dealers.

Oppo would love to tap and channelize it in its favor like the way other companies are doing. By unleashing Oppo R1k, which is mid-range handset, it seems that Oppo has done feasibility study before making incursion in market. Low purchasing power of consumers made Oppo come up with such midrange handset full of top notch specifications.

Display (7/10)

Display of 5” (diagonally measured) featuring resolution of 720*1280 pixels and 293.7 ppi is a smart move made by Oppo, considering that the Pakistani customers tend to spend on large display handsets. Gorilla Glass 3 embracing and protecting the whole display throughout is another plus.

Internals (7/10)

Integrated in it Qualcomm 400 processor with chipset (MSM8928) which has four A7-cortex MP cores. A sophisticated graphics controller Adreno 305 has also been incorporated in it. It comes with a built-in memory of 16 GB which is not expandable and 1 GB RAM! It runs on Android 4.3 Jelly beans but they haven’t announced the OS update yet.

Camera (8/10)

Now capture crispy detailed photos with its ultra-fast 12.8 MP primary camera. Conjecture of HDR with LED flash and BSI sensor technology would contribute their part in improving image quality. Now record videos displaying 1080 pixel FHD at the rate of 30 fps.

Oppo didn’t overlook the Selfie phenomenon rather promoted it somehow by giving 5MP secondary camera on the front.

Battery (8/10)

Even 2410 Li-ion battery cannot cut down Oppo R1k thickness which is 7.1 millimeter to be specific.

Other (7/10)

In other specifications, you would find a Bluetooth 4.0, micro-USB 2.0 port and Wi-Fi hotspot to fulfill your connectivity needs. An exclusive feature Wi-Fi display enables mirroring of screen to the external display without any wire connection.

3G, 4G Compatible (6/10)

Oppo R1k is 3G compatible but it does not support 4G and LTE.

Design (8/10)

Though it is a mid range phone, but it will turn a few heads around due to its slim and sleak design and the beautiful color OS.

Verdict

Oppo R1k is a stylish looking smartphone and the main specialty of this device is the 13 megapixel back and 5 megapixel front camera which is able to shot excellent quality photos. The 1.6 GHz quad-core processor with provide smooth performance and user experience. This phone runs on android 4.3 ColorOs system. The RAM included is 1 GB but could be 1.5 or 2 GB for the price. Otherwise, we think it is a good piece of hand-phone to consider.

It’s worth noting that all Oppo phones run on Oppo’s ColorOS UI (user interface) and, except the flagship models, they mostly have MediaTek processor. The devices are on display in Bashundhara City Level 1, Block B, Shop 14.
