Book Launch of Heroes of the Islamic Golden Age Celebrates Legacy and Learning

Renowned academic and author Dr. Chaman Rahim will officially launch her latest book, Heroes of the Islamic Golden Age, at a distinguished literary evening on Saturday, 10 January.

Written for children aged 6 to 12 years, the book introduces young readers to the remarkable achievements of iconic figures from the Islamic Golden Age. Through engaging, storytelling and historical insight, it aims to inspire curiosity, values, and a deep appreciation for knowledge, innovation, and cultural heritage.

Dr. Rahim has enjoyed a distinguished international academic career, having taught at King Abdul Aziz University (1975–1999) and Dar Al Hekma University (1999–2022), both in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She holds a Master’s degree from the University of Dhaka and a Master’s degree and PhD from the University of Paul Valéry, Montpellier, France. An accomplished scholar, she has authored numerous academic publications, founded the Model United Nations (MUN) program at Dar Al Hekma University, and pioneered the introduction of organized sports for female students at King Abdul Aziz University. Following her retirement, Dr. Rahim has continued her support in projects dedicated to people with disabilities.

As a special guest, the event will feature Mrs. Dilruba Ahmed, a pioneering educator and social leader who founded Bangladesh’s first English-medium school in 1974. A strong advocate of child development and holistic education, she guided the institution to offer both British (O & A Levels) and English-medium national curricula. She serves on the Board of the Education Science Technology and Cultural Development Trust at IUB, is Vice Chairman of FEMA, and holds leadership roles in organizations including Zonta, Inner Wheel, and Soroptimist International.

Also attending as a special guest will be Dr. Simeen M. Akhtar, an internationally respected healthcare leader with over 30 years of experience, currently serves as Chief Operating Officer and Board Member of Praava Health. A Dhaka Medical College graduate, she has held leadership roles across the USA, UK, Thailand, and Europe, and is also the founder of Nari Kalyan Sangstha, dedicated to empowering underprivileged women.

The book launch promises to be an enriching evening celebrating the history of the golden age of Islamic leaders – bringing together professionals from the education and other sectors to honor its enduring legacy.
