Technology has changed travel for good. It has embedded itself in the industry and transformed the way people perceive and plan their journey.
From the vacation destination we choose, all the way to what we do once we’re there, travel tech has made everything efficient and more convenient. It has improved processes, customer service, relationships with customers, and the creation of new business models. All this naturally leads to benefits for the traveller, letting them simplify, and often enrich, the travel planning process. Despite being slow to adopt at the initial stages, the Bangladeshi travel industry is being revolutionised by tech transformation. It is being led by Go Zayaan, a start-up that only started its journey in 2017.

A Game Changer
Go Zayaan has been a game-changer for Bangladesh’s travel industry; it has been the catalyst for tech transformation in the sector. Previously, the market used to be dominated by offline travel agencies, which impeded tech incorporation. Go Zayaan came into the scene and popularised the concept of online travel booking in the country. Go Zayaan works relentlessly to bring out the best deals for its users, churning out excellent rates from its airlines and hotel partners. On top of that, it maintains partnerships with all the prominent banks and mobile financial services, facilitating lucrative discounts for its users. Go Zayaan’s platform is built in a way that enables users to customize their travel plan to fit their requirements with the use of various sorting filters starting from budget to amenities. There are even filters through which users can modify the budget range they are comfortable with while making any purchase. Delivering on its promise of maximising customer convenience, Go Zayaan has introduced ‘Fare Trend!’ which allows travellers to search for their desired flights on any given day and compare the prices up to 16 days both before and subsequent to the date of search. It will help travellers decide the most cost-effective time to travel and get the best deal out of it!

A One-Stop Solution
In continuation of Go Zayaan’s effort to make travelling more convenient for its users, the company is working on the ‘Go Safe’ programme which testifies to the implementation of travel advisory focused on hygiene standards designed to minimise the spread of the COVID-19 in tourist premises. The travel advisory under this programme works as a guideline for travellers regarding the steps and documents required to travel to a specific destination. Through Go Zayaan’s platform, travellers will be updated in real-time about the steps needed to fulfil before travelling to the desired goals. Subsequently, they can review which hotels and resorts follow the health and safety guidelines for preventing COVID and are Go Safe certified. Also, the start-up has partnered up with prominent Government approved sample collection labs for the RT-PCR test, which is a prerequisite for travellers going abroad. It makes a huge difference for travellers going abroad as they get to avail all the services through a single platform.

Creating an Ecosystem
Go Zayaan’s vision is to move travel online. It strives to move the industry to the digital space by collaborating with offline tour operators (including boatmen, fishermen) across the country. Go Zayaan aspires to emulate the success of India, Thailand and other South East Asian countries in popularising a thriving OTA infrastructure. It wants to achieve that by creating an online space by collaborating with offline tour operators. The ecosystem will include all types of services from ground level to premium tour operators and boutique hotels to five-star hotels in one place. Go Zayaan envisions leading the industry by formulating an internal ecosystem that will catalyse sustainable growth of the industry in Bangladesh.
