JCI Dhaka West has successfully organized the first intervention of project Safe Internet. An awareness campaign and survey named, Safe Internet Awareness Creation Campaign was conducted on April 29, 2017 at Kolatia, Dhaka.
It was a half day event and was facilitated with the cooperation of more than 10 volunteers. Around 150 students of Kolatia High School participated in the event. The event commenced with students filling out anonymous surveys comprising of questions such as their purpose of interne
t usage, monthly internet consumption, security and privacy concerns etc. Project team aims to analyze the survey results and design future sessions accordingly.
Afterwards, an interactive session was conducted by Project Co-Lead Seyed Mosayeb Alam Eikiyo and Project Secretary Samiha Akhter. During the session, they talked about risks that students can be subjected to whilst using social media such as sharing inappropriate content, cyber bullying and interactions with strangers. The primary message delivered was to be more aware of potential risks when using internet and take precautionary measures accordingly.
The media partner of this event was ‘ICE Business Times’. JCI Dhaka West intends to conduct more awareness programs throughout the country and promote safe internet usage.
