As a multinational business, BAT Bangladesh understands the importance of delivering with high standards of integrity along with maintaining the societal responsibilities. Responsibility is integral to the 110-year old multinational’s strategy and they strive to be a responsible company wherever they operate. Today, with a proud heritage, BAT Bangladesh is embarking on a transformational journey with a clear purpose of building “A Better Tomorrow” for all their stakeholders.

With a new logo, comes a new corporate strategy

In an ever-evolving world today, BAT as a group recognises the need to have an evolving business model. The group’s previous logo has served the company well for decades and has been a strong symbol of a world-leading tobacco company. Responding to the changing global landscape and to ensure a sustainable delivery of business excellence both today and tomorrow, BAT Bangladesh has embraced a new vision and purpose to work hand in hand with the sustainable development journey of the country through impactful public-private partnerships with the government. The dynamic new logo reflects the company today and its journey ahead: an unification of its international businesses as well as the representation of its vision of having a multi-category portfolio.

“A Better Tomorrow”

The brand-new identity of the company portrays the ambition to facilitate a transformational journey in pursuit of ‘A Better Tomorrow’ for all our stakeholders. The transformational journey will include – responsibly offering enjoyable choices for every mood and every moment for their consumers; reducing our environmental and social impacts; creating a dynamic, inspiring and purposeful place to work for our employees and delivering sustainable and superior returns to our shareholders. Ever since its inception 110 years ago, BAT Bangladesh has been regarded as the benchmark for compliance and governance across the corporate sector and is known to develop human capital by creating business leaders who are now leading top corporates of the country and beyond. The robust crop-to-consumer model of BAT Bangladesh touches the lives of over 1.35 million people who depend on the operations of the company.

Ensuring a sustainable future for all

Sowing the principles of creating ‘A Better Tomorrow’ in a country that is soaring the heights of development can be considered a milestone resulting from the BAT Bangladesh’s public-private partnership initiatives. These initiatives are addressing the key sustainability agenda of Bangladesh as it progresses towards becoming a developed nation. In its ambition to support the Government as a sustainable partner in development, BAT Bangladesh has supported several initiatives such as – upliftment of farmers livelihood, the largest private sector driven afforestation program, providing Safe Drinking Water, and Renewable Energy Supply.

BAT Bangladesh plays a significant role in the socio-economic development of the country, while also contributing towards ensuring zero hunger. The Company has thrived to establish best practices in agriculture and farmers’ sustainability initiatives which have subsequently contributed in enriching the livelihood of more than 34,000 farmers directly.

The agricultural best practices and the training facility aims to improve the farming community by providing them with skill development training that enhances farm productivity and uplifts household income, while empowering them with a community voice. The practiced agricultural best practices help farmers to implement the knowledge in their crop portfolio and get higher returns and ensure sustainable agricultural practices.

In 2020, the longest running afforestation programme backed by the private sector completed 40 years of contributing to the better livelihood of more than 30,000 beneficiaries each year. Till date, the initiative has seen the distribution of a mammoth 110 million saplings, free of cost to beneficiary communities and institutions across Bangladesh.

2021 also marks 12 years of the safe-drinking water programme in Bangladesh; an initiative taken to complement the government’s goal of ensuring access to clean drinking water especially arsenic prone communities. The project was initiated in 2009 and so far, it has established more than 110 water filtration plants across 20 districts of the country, ensuring more than 560,000 litres of pure drinking water to more than 270,000 beneficiaries every day.

BAT Bangladesh’s relentless commitment towards supporting clean and renewable energy facilitated the implementation of a solar power project in 2011 to support the communities in off-grid areas of Chittagong Hill Tracts. The programme has disbursed 2,590 units of solar home systems among the people of remote villages of Bandarban, Khagrachari and Rangamati districts. Over 15,000 people, who previously had no access to electricity, now have had their livelihoods impacted significantly.

BAT Bangladesh has championed in ensuring the best interests of its consumers, employees, shareholders, and society, facilitating impactful contribution in the sustainable development of the nation for the last 50 years. Moving forward, BAT Bangladesh pledges to contribute in 8 SDGs directly and to partner with the government to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 – in its plight to take the country to newer heights – in pursuit of ‘A Better Tomorrow’.
