With the tagline ‘Transforming Bangladesh through Knowledge Remittance,’ the first-ever NRB Conclave is going to be held on 30 December. An initiative of Bangladesh Brand Forum, the conclave will explore models and approaches to engage the Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) to contribute to the national economy of Bangladesh. The daylong event will be held at Le Méridien Dhaka.
Since the independence, the Non-Resident Bangladeshis have taken giant strides and are operating at the highest level in the country where they reside. And they feel very passionate about Bangladesh and explores avenue to engage, assist and support in the journey of Bangladesh transformation.
NRB Conclave aims to create a knowledge platform to pursue that goal and assist the NRBs so that they can get connected to Bangladesh in a space which is comfortable to them.
The conclave will consist of 6 Keynote Sessions taken by esteemed speakers – Lutfey Siddiqi CFA– Governor & Visiting Professor-in-Practice, London School of Economics, Global Future Council & Young Global Leader, World Economic Forum, Advisory Council, Centre for Governance, NUS Business School; Faisal Ahmed – Chief Economist, Bangladesh Bank; Kazi M. Aminul Islam- Executive Chairman, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA); Tina Jabeen, Investment Advisor, Startup Bangladesh, ICT, Govt. of Peoples Rep. of Bangladesh; Humayun Rashid- Managing Director, Energypac Power Generation Limited; Nazia Andaleeb Preema – Visual Artist, President, WIL & Bangladesh Creative Forum, Director, Bangladesh Brand Forum.
Three-panel discussions will be held comprising of around 13 local industry stakeholders as panelists. The first panel discussion will focus on the topic- Investment and NRB Challenges & Opportunity. Panelists for this session are, Enam Ali MBE, FIH- Founder and Director, The British Curry Awards, Chairman, iOn Television Europe; Jalal Ahmed- Additional Secretary, Economic Relations Division, Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh; Kazi M. Aminul Islam- Executive Chairman, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA); The panel will be moderated by Faisal Ahmed- Chief Economist, Bangladesh Bank.
The second panel discussion will be on- NRB and Future Skill Development. The respected panelists are Dr. Milton Hasnat- Senior Lecturer & Epidemiologist, Australia; Professor Syed Saad Andaleeb, Ph.D.- Vice Chancellor, BRAC University; Shayaan Seraj- Group Director, Strategy, Marketing & Operations, Aqua Paints, Elite Steel (Elite Group).
The third panel on NRB and Transforming the 8 Divisions through Innovation will consist of Anir Chowdhury- Policy Advisor, a2i, Prime Minister’s Office, Bangladesh; Kazi Monirul Kabir- Managing Director & Chief Innovation Officer, Spider Digital Commerce; Tousif Ishtiaque- Project Leader, The Boston Consulting Group; the moderator being Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar- Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka.
One Insight Session will also be also taken by Dr. Arif Dowla, Managing Director, ACI Limited.
The conclave will end with plans and ideas by Shariful Islam- Founder and Managing Director, Bangladesh Brand Forum who will lay the way forward and how the conclave is meant to focus on Economy, Investment, Future of Skill Development, Industry Development, Cultural Vibrancy, Innovation, and Technology Development.
